Shiny Object Syndrome

At the weekend I had a conversation with a friend of mine; a fellow business owner.

Let’s call him Chris, because that’s his name.

We had a really good catch up – discussing our various pains, struggles and also our recent successes in business.

It was like a game of table tennis. We were going backwards and forwards for what must have been an hour or so.

It was really enlightening.

Many ‘aha moments’ were had. The kind you can only gain from getting an outside perspective of your business.

Sometimes you can be ‘too close’ to your business and not see where the solutions lie – even when they’re in plain sight, right in front of you.

It became apparent to me that Chris was struggling with – what I like to call – “shiny object syndrome”.

He had lots of ‘business building’ ideas – but just didn’t have the time to prioritise these and implement them fully.

And it’s such a shame, because it’s something that stumps so many business owners.

You hear all these new ‘buzzwords’ or read interesting case studies on the latest and greatest ideas you should be implementing in your business to ‘scale up’ and grow.

But it’s only when you’re knee deep in implementing these that you realise just how mind-boggling they are – so you fail to implement them fully.

Now, if Chris’s story is similar to yours – then here’s something that might be ‘just the ticket’ for you…

It’s called ‘Automation’.

Now, automation is much more than just a buzzword.

It is in fact THE most effective way to free up your time to focus on the things that really matter in your business.

The things that are going to move you closer to where you want to be with your business – whatever that looks like for you.
